Stockport schools are being challenged to take part in the national Arts and Minds competition that aims to bring cultural diversity into the classroom, by local MP, Andrew Stunell. There are prizes and awards for pupils and schools that use creative writing and art to express their feelings about what racial equality and cultural diversity mean to today's society.
Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell said:
"This is an exciting competition on an issue which is important to everyone in Stockport. There is no better way to celebrate our multicultural society than through the enthusiasm and talent of our youngsters.
"Any primary, secondary or special school can apply, and there will be three winners for creative writing and three for art entries, each receiving £300 worth of education equipment for their school."
The competition is organised by NASUWT, the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers, and is supported by Olympic Athletes Jonathan Edwards and Linford Christie. ENDS
