Hi-tech digital hearing aids for Stockport residents - Stunell

Local MP Andrew Stunell is backing Stockport Primary Care Trust's bid for digital hearing aids to be available on the NHS from next December.

Andrew Stunell has written to the Secretary of State for Health to back up their case. Commenting on the issue Mr Stunell said:

"These digital hearing aids are vital to the thousands of hearing impaired people in Stockport. These hi-tech aids have a better sound than the ones currently in use and will certainly improve the quality of life for a lot of people."

One manufacturer of digital aids, Starkey, is based in Hazel Grove. Mr Stunell said: "It's folly that digital hearing aids made in the constituency have not been available on the NHS for constituents. If the Primary Care Trust bid is successful this will soon be remedied. ENDS"
